Enhancing Sustainable Tourism: A Strategic Collaboration for the Rehabilitation of Coron and El Nido

El Nido and Coron Rehabilitation Status

In a collaborative effort towards sustainable tourism and environmental preservation, the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) convened with the municipal government units of Coron and El Nido at Best Western Plus The Ivy Wall Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Thursday, April 11.

Successful models and on-going efforts in addressing water and wastewater management were highlighted, drawing insights from the successful initiatives in Boracay. LGUs of Coron and El Nido shed light on their respective initiatives to tackle waste management challenges and promote responsible tourism practices.

As a way forward, the LCEs of Coron and El Nido pledged their unwavering commitment to implementing actionable plans to address water-related issues within their respective LGUs.

Present were DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco of DOT, DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, DILG Secretary Benjamin D. Abalos, Jr., DILG Palawan Provincial Director Virgilio Tagle, other regional and provincial line agencies, Coron Mayor Mario T. Reyes, Jr., El Nido Mayor Edna Gacot-Lim and other local functionaries.

In line with this, the LGU El Nido strictly implemented the ordinances covered with the rehabilitation programs and one of it the Water Quality of every businesses related to tourism industries and the Rural Health Unit of El Nido conducted the series of tests done last April 08, 2024 inclusive of this, the Tandikan Beach Cottages and the rest.
